Ernest Packaging Solutions

moving packaging forward
Overview
Working at Ernest as my first job right out of college, I felt lucky that I was able to work in an industry related to one of my interests. As the only graphic designer on the marketing team, I was in charge of designing all graphic assets needed for the 12 divisions of Ernest. While still following brand guidelines and utilizing assets made from the previous designer, I was able to expand on Ernest's branding while still showcasing the companies fun and exciting personality.

Assets created ranged from digital to print. Digital included designing hero tiles, online articles, videos, and more. Printed consisted of sales fliers, promotional merchandise, event banners and signage.

Givember
Every year Ernest gives back to the community by helping those that are less fortunate. For 2019, socks were chosen after discovering that they were the most requested item at homeless shelters.

I collaborated with the event planners in creating the hero tiles, t-shirt designs, fliers, and recap video.

Ernest Open House
At Ernest there are Open Houses at 11 of their divisions every year to network with customers and vendors. My role for these events was to create all artwork needed which included invites, banners, name tags, vendor signs, and anything else that a specific division needed.

I worked with event planners from each division to collect the necessary information (date, time, etc.) and logos from their vendors to be included in the artwork. I also collaborated with the Marketing team in ordering all prints and approving branded promotional items.

SAPĀ x Ernest
With Ernest converting to SAP, the newsletter SAP Chat! was created to keep Ernest employees in the loop. Along with the newsletter, video tutorials were created to help users become familiar with SAP.

To kick off the project I collaborated with the project manager in coming up with a logo for SAP Chat! and then created the newsletter with the copy and headshots provided by them. As for the video tutorials, the voice and screen recordings were provided for me to put together as a cohesive piece.

Logo Concept
When creating the SAP Chat! logo we drew inspiration from the Ernest emblem as well as The Ernest Buzz logo. Because The Ernest Buzz is a hub where all exciting packaging and Ernest related articles are posted for viewers and SAP Chat! had a similar concept; we aimed to implement some familiar parts of The Ernest Buzz to the SAP Chat! logo.

After multiple iterations we landed upon SAP Chat! inside a rounded speech bubble. While we played around with Ernest's main colors, we wanted to differentiate it from the main branding and felt that the secondary red accent color fit close but not too far from the main Ernest color palette.
